Sail the North Shore provides safe, hands-on-fun for all ages. Hop aboard one of our vessels with an experienced captain to keep you and your crew safe on the water. We have two sailboats and a deckboat (think of a pontoon crossed with a power boat) to choose from -- depending on the wind and waves.
If you have the dexterity to get on and off a boat, you will enjoy your experience with Captain Siri. She can bring the deckboat to meet you at one of the pristine glacial freshwater lakes near Grand Marais, or pick you up from one of the harbors in town. The goal is to make getting onto the water accessible and fun for a wide-range of people.
Sail the North Shore is also offering lesson packages for kids aged 12-18 and a special package for women who are here for the summer.

Hands On Sailing

Our hands-on sailing experience for all ages offers a unique opportunity to learn sailing if it is new to you, or to immerse yourself in the art of sailing if you are an experienced sailor. Preparing for your Adventure
The most important way to prepare for your outing is to wear the right gear. The lake cools the air above it, so you want to dress for ten to twenty degrees colder than the air on shore!
Weather changes swiftly in Grand Marais, so expect the possibility of a brief rain shower and, of course, wind!
